Country Crock, a brand of Englewood Cliff, N.J.-based Unilever, has updated its recipe for its nondairy buttery spreads. The spreads are now made with no artificial preservatives or flavors, contain no trans-fat per serving, no partially hydrogenated vegetable oils or cholesterol. The new offerings are available in Original, Calcium, Churn Style and Light varieties, and sold in stores nationwide. The Original spread contains 50 calories and 6 grams of fat per 1-tablespoon serving. The spreads are packaged in a new rectangular, space-saving container that is reusable and recyclable. It’s available in a range of sizes, for a suggested retail price of $2.39 through $3.79 in grocery stores and $2.19 through $4.99 in mass retailers.
